Healthcare ACE Project
HEALTHCARE ACE seeks to raise Central Louisiana students’ awareness of healthcare careers. We are partnering with school boards across The Rapides Foundation’s 9-Parish Service Area. This project is funded by a Future of HealthC.A.R.E. Program Grant from The Rapides Foundation which seeks to increase the number of qualified Central Louisiana students enrolling in healthcare training programs or entering the healthcare workforce.We deliver a no-cost, one-day event that’s tailor-made for high school students. Snacks and lunch are provided in between hands-on learning workshops that engage students in discovering what it’s like to prepare for and work in high demand healthcare fields. Our workshops are led by college faculty from Northwestern State University of Louisiana and Central Louisiana Technical Community College. Acadian Ambulance
Exploring is a unique career study program created by Boy Scouts of America for young menand women ages 14–20. It provides an opportunity to learn about a wide variety of careers andto network with professionals already in those fields. Acadian Ambulance has been a supporter of Scouting for many years. Many of our employeesvolunteer with various Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops and packs, and we sponsor Explorerposts throughout Louisiana, Texas, and Tennessee. Our posts are specifically designed for teens and young adults who are interested in the medicalfield. The program provides real-world experiences, helping participants develop critical skillsnecessary for a successful career in emergency medicine. In addition, our Explorers can earntheir Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification. Explorers have the opportunity to: Ride on our ambulances, shadowing employees Build a medical resume Learn CPR and other lifesaving skills Earn volunteer hours in a patient care environment Obtain scholarships for EMT school Further medical career opportunities High School EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) programs in the CENLA area: Tioga High School Pineville High School Kinder High School Buckeye High School High School EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) programs: Tioga High School Allen Parish (course is taught @ Kinder HS and students get bused in)
